The Board of Directors of A Port in the Storm Inc. meets quarterly September, December, March, and June. Additional meetings are called as required.

Lana Meier - Interlake Region Representative

  • My contribution to the board as communications chair and Interlake rep is my sales and marketing experience and valuable contacts I have made throughout my 26 year newspaper publishing career.

  • I was a group publisher for the Sun Media newspaper chair overseeing the day to day operations of 9 weekly newspapers, 2 small dailies and 2 sheet fed printing operations surrounding the city of Winnipeg.

  • I have 22 years experience on the provincial board of the Manitoba Community Newspaper Association.

  • 15 years experience on the national board of the Canadian Community Newspaper Association

  • Presently A small business owner of a used car dealership and Multi Media Marketing business

  • Actively volunteering in baseball, hockey and school activities with five school aged children

  • 25 years coaching experience of power skating in several communities in the Interlake

Gary Carr - Winnipeg Representative

  • Retired RCMP member for over 35 years having served in Manitoba and with United Nations in former Yugoslavia

  • Liaison between Croatian and Serbian police/military while with the UN

  • Currently a Director of the RCMP Manitoba Veterans Association as chairman of the Membership Committee 

  • Served as a Director on the Ste. Agathe Community Development Corp (CDC) for 4 years

  • Actively involved in local community volunteer services

  • Recently lost a spouse and best friend to cancer and as a result has a determined interest in supporting programs related to the disease
